IEEE Conference on Network Softwarization
24-28 June 2019 // Paris, France

Welcome from the Chairs of NetSoft 2019

Bienvenue en France!

We are very pleased to welcome you to the 5th IEEE International Conference on Network Softwarization (NetSoft 2019) that will be held on June 24-28, 2019 in the marvelous City of Light, Paris, France.

NetSoft 2019 will analyze how the continuous evolution of software-defined networking (SDN), network functions virtualization (NFV), and cloud networking techniques, which are now extended to edge and access networks, will help shaping the future of automated networking. From the dynamic exposure and negotiation of connectivity service parameters to service fulfillment and assurance mechanisms, the promises of automation to foster the delivery and facilitate the design and the operation of complex, programmable, multi-service networking architectures need to be progressed beyond the currently nurturing specification and development efforts.

NetSoft 2019 will thus be the opportunity to sense the most advanced developments in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and companion algorithms, self-driving and autonomic networking, policy-based network management, dynamic network slice provisioning, among other promising research areas for the sake of robust, reliable and softwarized networks.

Automation is for real! And this is duly reflected in the theme of NetSoft 2019: Unleashing the Power of Network Softwarization.

The five-day conference program offers a variety of compelling sessions. The core of the conference running from June 25 to June 27, features 4 inspiring keynote talks delivered by world-class researchers and practitioners. It also includes a Distinguished Expert Panel discussion on the evolution of network softwarization, no less than 10 technical sessions covering recent advances and emerging challenges in softwarized networks, as well as 11 demos showcasing prototypes and proof-of-concept implementations of ongoing research.

On June 24 and June 27, 4 focused workshops and 4 tutorials will provide the opportunity to deep dive into the most advanced network softwarization techniques: from network slicing to security threat mitigation in software networks, from packet processing constructs to service assurance mechanisms, from edge computing to software-defined broadband access infrastructures, these sessions cover a large variety of network softwarization facets.

NetSoft 2019 owes its success to a dedicated community of researchers from academia and industry that has formed over the recent years. First, we are grateful to the many authors who submitted timely papers. Second, we would like to thank the numerous reviewers who scrutinized more than 180 conference, demo and workshop papers, so that only proposals that meet the highest standards have been selected for presentation at NetSoft 2019 and co-located workshops. Needless to say, we duly acknowledge the hard work and tireless efforts of the many volunteers in the Organizing and Technical Program committees that allowed us offering such a comprehensive program.

Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to Orange for hosting the conference, as well as our patrons for their support and generosity: Orange, Intel, Thalès, Huawei, Gandi and Nokia Bell Labs.

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy this rich and engaging program.

On behalf of the Organization Committee, we wish you a truly inspiring NetSoft 2019. Not to forget some time for enjoying the unrivaled atmosphere of Paris, of course!
